Brian Evanko serves as the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of The Cigna GroupSM. He is a member of the company’s Enterprise Leadership Team and has executive leadership responsibilities for the Cigna HealthcareSM U.S. Government business.
As CFO, Evanko has executive leadership responsibility for the financial operations and functions, Investment Management and Underwriting units for The Cigna Group. Since assuming the CFO role in January 2021, the company has delivered against its Adjusted Earnings per Share (EPS) objectives and further refined its long-term roadmap for success.
From 2017-2021, Evanko led Cigna HealthcareSM U.S. Government business, which included Medicare Advantage, Government Pharmacy, Medicaid, Individual and Family Plans (IFP), and Cigna Supplemental Benefits (CSB). Under his leadership, the company's Medicare Advantage business experienced historic addressable market expansion and growth and drove quality care and outstanding customer service, positioning the business for long-term success in a highly dynamic regulatory environment.
Evanko also previously served as the President of U.S. Individual and Voluntary businesses for Cigna Healthcare, where he led the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) for IFP, and subsequently positioned the business for long-term profitable growth.
Evanko joined the company's Finance organization in 1998 and has served in a number of roles, including Business Financial Officer for Global Individual Health, Life, and Accident operations based in Hong Kong and Singapore from 2009 to 2013. He also held various roles across the company's U.S. and International businesses in Hartford, Connecticut and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Evanko earned a bachelor’s degree in actuarial science from Pennsylvania State University and holds the FSA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries), MAAA (Member of the American Academy of Actuaries) and CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designations. He serves on the National Board of Directors for Back on My Feet, a national organization operating in 13 major cities across the U.S. that combats homelessness through the power of running, community support, and essential employment and housing resources. Evanko also serves on the Executive Committee of the Connecticut Science Center, the state’s foremost institution focused on lifelong learning through science. A marathon runner, Evanko has been instrumental in the partnership between The Cigna Group and Achilles International and has served as a race guide for runners with disabilities at the Walt Disney World® and Marine Corps Marathons.
