What is Achilles International?

Achilles International is a leading adaptive running nonprofit that transforms the lives of people with disabilities through athletic programs and social connection. It operates in 18 countries and across 19 states in the U.S. and provides opportunities to participate in major athletic events throughout the country.

Achilles helps empower participants to foster an active lifestyle and surrounds them with opportunities for social connection and community.

The Achilles Freedom Team

In 2020, The Cigna Group^℠ became the presenting sponsor of the Achilles Freedom Team, a program that gives wounded military personnel and veterans the opportunity to train and participate in mainstream marathons. We partner to support their efforts in marathons across the country, including New York City, Boston, Chicago, the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C., and more.

The Cigna Group Employees and Achilles

We provide numerous ways for our employees to volunteer and get involved through The Cigna Group Foundation programs. Programs include paid leave for community service time, a donation matching program, and financial incentives to organize special fundraising initiatives around specific holidays such as Global Running Day, Veterans Day, and Disability Awareness Month.
